Extreme Long Range Rifle

how far do you want to go?

2025 will bring us our second FULL season of ELR matches. We’ve expanded the range and now feature 2MOA targets out to a full 2 MILES. Depending upon registration numbers, we may run both ELR Heavy and ELR Light on Saturday, but if the need arises we will extend into a 2-day Sat/Sun format. All matches are scored with Longshot Target Camera system. A covered gathering area away from the firing line includes large monitors to view the match in real time.

Our matches will adhere to the recognized and multi-range endorsed ELR rules found here:

ELR Harmonized Ruleset

NEW FOR 2025 - ELR ROOKIE!

A number of ELR Match directors have come to an agreement to add a Rookie classification to ELR (qualifications below). The premise is to bring new shooters to the discipline and have their scores matched against one another in pursuit of a ROOKIE CUP finale match with overall winners in Light & Heavy. The course of fire may be altered for these shooters to be more approachable.

ELR ROOKIE CLASS RULES

Purpose:

Build the sport of ELR by opening the door to newcomers and encouraging existing shooters to mentor new ELR shooters at home in their local areas and at matches. Rookies would compete at local and regional matches to qualify for Finales if applicable. The Rookies would also be eligible to compete in the ELRUSA National championship in October of 2025!

Rookie Cup Qualifications:

1. Regardless of the number of ELR matches shot, a Rookie has a hit percentage average of 35% or less, over the last 4 ELR matches. (% waiting on final approval from match directors)

2. A Rookie does not have a "Master" or better classification in the NRA, or has had no sponsorships for any long range shooting discipline such as PRS, F-Class, Palma, NRL or ELR 22, etc.

3. The spirit of the definition of a Rookie is a new recruit, or a member of a team in ELR that is not yet competitive in the open classes in the Light or Heavy divisions.

Note: Match Directors reserve the right to move any Rookie to the open classes if sandbagging of rules occurs.

Rookie Cup Application:

Rookie applicant is responsible for completing a Rookie Cup Application for each ELR series across the US. Match directors hold all rights to approve any applicant before the match begins. ELR Rookie status is a 1 year designation only.

Rookie Cup Match Rules:

All ELR Light and Heavy rules as set forth by the Match Director apply to the Rookie Cup classes.

Match Director Discretion:

Match Directors can reduce the course of fire if they so choose based on target availability, range setup, and camera system, etc. Rookie Cup classes are encouraged to be after the Light and Heavy classes so Pro ELR shooters can stay and help the rookies. Note: This is totally left up to each match director. If it is best to mix the Rookies in with the open class it is up to their discretion.

WHAT ABOUT ELR HUNTER?

As we adapt to the needs of our shooters, we shall this year host two “All Hunter” weekends, featuring NRL Hunter on Saturday and ELR Hunter on Sunday. See elsewhere on the website for details.

Shooting order will be randomly assigned at check-in. Shooter/Spotter teams that draw adjacent numbers will redraw to provide time between shooters.

SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. Basic firearms safety rules apply. Rifles will be kept UNLOADED with BOLTS BACK OR REMOVED and EMPTY CHAMBER INDICATORS IN PLACE while being moved and/or stored between stages. Muzzles must be pointed in a safe direction AT ALL TIMES including when moving the rifle to and from the firing line. During active shooting, BOLTS WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL SHOOTER HAS ACQUIRED TARGET THROUGH THEIR OPTIC. Accidental discharges ON OR OFF THE FIRING LINE will result in an immediate match disqualification. Other safety violations will incur a single warning, a second violation will result in a match disqualification.

A 100yd Zero board will be available during the registration interval. The match firing line will stay cold until competition begins, and zero board will go cold at that time.

Six shooting platforms will be in use. A staggered start will begin with a single shooter. Ultimately three shooters will be engaging targets while three others are setting up. ONLY SHOOTERS, SPOTTERS, SCOREKEEPERS, TIMEKEEPERS, AND THE MATCH DIRECTOR/RSOs SHALL BE AT THE FIRING LINE DURING ACTIVE COMPETITION. In order to efficiently move through the schedule, shooters are asked to quickly clear the platform after each of their relays have concluded. A staging area to leave gear will be provided, shooters are asked to clear the firing line and head to one of the observation areas to keep traffic at the firing line at a minimum during active competition. Three 55” flatscreen monitors will be erected near a gathering area for spectators to watch the action.

The ELR course of fire shall include a 1000yd single shot 1.5 MOA cold bore target followed by 6 distant 2-MOA plates. All ELR relays will be SIX MINUTES. 1st relay will include the cold bore single round hit or miss. Distant targets will then be engaged in 2-target relays of 5 hit or miss shots per target (10 shots total, 11 including cold bore on first relay). 24 minute Cool-down intervals will follow each relay. A separate course of fire for Hunter class will be designated.

The 1.5MOA cold bore target will be worth 2500 points. Remaining targets will be scored as follows: 2X, 1.5X, 1X, 1X, 1X, where X is the range in yards for each impact out of the five attempts. An equalizing calculation such as dividing by target surface area MAY be put to use if agreed upon in the harmonized ruleset to allow for more accurate comparisons between ELR ranges.

Shooters will be asked to endorse their scoresheet after each relay. Scoring challenges will be handled as follows: If a shooter wishes to dispute their score, they may indicate as much at the conclusion of the relevant relay to the scorekeeper. AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE FINAL SHOOTER a $100 cash deposit will be collected for each challenge. Video and Still photo images will be reviewed by the scorekeeper and Match Director. If the challenge is correct, the $100 will be returned to the challenger and the score adjusted. If the original score is found to be correct, the $100 will be added to the collected match fees for the day.

The 100yd Zero range will be available from 12 to 6pm (or sundown) on the day prior to a match for no additional fee

Our East PRS Centerfire range (targets out to 1400 yards) will be made available from 1pm to 6pm on the Friday before each ELR match for a $40 fee. Shooters who book onsite lodging for Friday will be granted access during that same time interval without the extra charge.

The ELR range will be available for use on the Sunday following each match for a $100 fee. The camera system may not be available, flashers will be placed on targets as a substitute. Contact Randy Ridge (ranch manager) directly at (210) 846-2502 to book a spot.

Hot lunch will be provided for an extra fee indicated during online registration.
